With the giving season quickly descending upon us, it’s time to start turning our attention to our holiday fundraising efforts.
With approximately 87 percent of milliennials giving to charitable causes in 2013, milliennials are quickly becoming the most charitable generation to date. And we think it might be time to stop calling them selfish.
The amount millennials are donating shouldn’t come as a surprise, though. The generation is just entering their peak spending power, with the oldest member of the generation (34 years of age) are buying houses and having families, while the youngest of the generation (15 years of age), are just now getting their first part-time jobs.
Everyone knows this generation will be highly influential, and will play a huge role in defining the course of history. A tall order.
With online giving increasing 14 percent in 2013, and the pervasiveness of tech use among millennials, it’s imperative the nonprofit sector understands how these 80 million people are spending their time online. Here’s an easy inforgraphic breakdown.
