In our current world-landscape, Cyberattacks are becoming more and more frequent. So much so that even smaller nonprofits and small-businesses are becoming the targets of these attacks. What used to be breaking news is now just an everyday reality. Because of this, we need cybersecurity experts now more than ever. With so many potential threats possible its hard to determine where to begin and who to call. With all of the top talent being absorbed by the outsourced security market and other prevention services, capable experts can be hard to locate.
It can also be very hard to define what determines an "expert" in these fields. Some might argue that it's critical for these candidates to have a four year degree while others might argue that hands-on experience in the field is necessary. So what type of candidates should you be pursuing as a nonprofit? This can be a tough question to answer. Right now, all over the world, there are workforce development programs in place to prepare future generations to become thought leaders in these spaces and rise up to the roles and challenges facing the field of cybersecurity.
These workforce development programs, such as our very own ITWorks and CSWorks programs, can be a very useful place to begin when searching for passionate and educated individuals that can provide that type of service and security to your nonprofit.
