Nonprofits in 2012 and 2013 successfully out-hired the private sector, saw their profits continually rise, and steadily became more tech-savvy and efficient in contemporary internet driven world.
Here are some alarming stats from USF's Online Master of Public Administration you may not have known about nonprofits, and some reasons why they will continue trending up:
- The nonprofit sector contributed $804.8 billion to the U.S. economy, making up 5.5% of the GDP.
- Nonprofits employed nearly 10% of the entire U.S. workforce
- Almost 27% of American volunteered nearly 8 billion hours of volunteer service in 2011
