Where Are They Now? Katie's Journey to Brandywine Technology

Are you curious as to where some of Tech Impact’s graduates go in their careers? Meet Katie, a Delaware Spring 2017 graduate of the ITWorks program who was able to step away from an unsatisfying job and break into a career in technology with her new skills and certifications. Now she is a Field Technician at Colonial School District through Brandywine Technology, and one of our pilot Alumni Ambassadors.
Katie thrived in her ITWorks internship at the University of Delaware, transitioning into a part-time paid position after an extended internship. She then took a challenging role at the state’s Division of Accounting through Versalign, before most recently accepting an offer at Brandywine Technology to be a field technician at Colonial School District. She is eager to get started! In addition to her career journey, Katie has also spent time with ITWorks by hosting study sessions for new students and sharing her expert note-taking skills.
She is grateful to have earned her certifications, but she is even more thankful for the friendships forged during her time at ITWorks. Some of her classmates are now her closest friends! And they are not stopping with the CompTIA A+. Katie is now working towards earning her Net+ certification as well.
Reflecting on her experience in the program, Katie said, “Tech Impact has changed my life. I went from a dead-end job in retail to a certified technician with a full-time job. It has given me the confidence to continue with my education and has given me the drive to always better myself.”
With the exciting launch of Tech Impact’s Alumni Ambassador initiative, the ITWorks and CXWorks programs are rolling out the “Where Are They Now?” blog series. Meet more of our graduates and learn about where Tech Impact’s workforce development programs have taken them next week.
