Coming from an entrepreneurship family who has always had a small business growing up, it has molded my life in different forms. Always giving me a different perspective on life, keeping me on my toes, and showing me that you can achieve anything with hard work and persistence. Growing up helping my family with their small business constantly kept me curious, creative, and at the edge of life giving me the entrepreneurship spirit. I realized from a young age that small businesses mattered and they did make a difference which is why I decided to invest my time with Axiom Cyber.

Mykaela, an ITWorks Las Vegas Fall 2016 student, gives her advice on what to expect when you're starting a new job or internship.
Walking into this program, I had no idea what to expect. I was curious and, to be honest, a bit scared. However, the life skills, in addition to the technical knowledge, have given me the confidence to face the unknown. My internship was hosted with Easter Seals of Southern Nevada. The organization’s main goal is to provide services to those with special needs within the community. As an intern, I assisted in a variety of projects - from interesting adventures like climbing in ceilings to tasks as simple as resetting a password. It was a great experience, and I am leaving with some advice I'd like to share:

ITWorks Las Vegas is halfway through its second 16-week session, and the students are well on their way to some IT certifications and internships! Victor Gutierrez came to the program with a self-taught break/fix knowledge and an avid enjoyment of working through complex problems. With about eight more weeks before graduation, Victor is now ecstatic to get started in the field. We checked-in with him to ask a few questions about how the class is going so far and what he’s looking forward to with certification exams and internship interviews right around the corner – read on to learn more!
I started the ITWorks program in March. After 11 challenging weeks in the classroom, I have been putting my knowledge to work with my internship at the University of Delaware’s College of Art and Sciences. The knowledge I gained in the classroom is definitely important to my success in my internship, but I’ve learned even more about what I can expect in the workplace. Here are five things that my IT internship has taught me. Read on to learn more!
