SOS Children’s Villages International works in 135 countries to care for children in need as well as support their families and communities. As the Syrian refugee crisis stretches on, SOS uses the Microsoft's cloud solutions to help respond to the overwhelming need in the Middle East and Europe.
Microsoft's cloud solutions are available free or heavily discounted to eligible nonprofits. SOS uses these solutions to connect employees, other aid organizations and the refugees affected from civil war.
To meet the pressing needs of refugees and displaced persons from the Syrian crisis, SOS staff work in sometimes brutal and even dangerous conditions. The damages of war and uncertain infrastructure mean land lines and electricity are often out of service. Through a generator and 3G access, though, SOS employees use Microsoft Office 365 to correspond with each other and international partners, access shared files and update documents with new arrivals at care centers. After all, they serve Syria’s unaccompanied and separated children, and their crucial work cannot wait.

Microsoft’s cloud technology also helps them stretch their resources to help the most families possible. By using Skype for Business, SOS workers in the field stay in close touch with psychologists and other specialists to help children, who are sometimes orphaned or lost, work through their trauma and grief. What’s more, the child protection staff store, access and collaborate on case documents on a team SharePoint folder.
We are holding webinar's on March 22nd at 2pm est. on Skype for Business, and a Office 365 Demo on March 23rd at 2pm est.
