Tech Impact Looks to Engage and Recognize Mentors Throughout January
In celebration of National Mentoring Month, Tech Impact wants to call attention to the importance of mentoring and recognize those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing guidance and support to those students in the CXWorks and ITWorks workforce development programs. This article will discuss why mentorship is an integral component of our programs, and include some highlights from our mentors. Keep an eye on our social media pages for daily mentor highlights during the month of January!
Many of us would like to volunteer our time to mentor young people, to offer some guidance and friendship to those who need it most. Often times many of us find life gets in the way, that we can’t fit the time into our busy schedules.
But according to a recent guest post on Beth Kanter’s Blog, finding the time to mentor is not only easier than you think, but it’s also more rewarding.
Today’s students have a wide range of goals and potential, and often a simple conversation or exchange of emails can mean a lot to a young person looking toward the future.
And you don’t have to do it alone. Your organization can develop programs to get young people involved and help them gain important skills and experiences that will benefit them in the future.
Tech Impact strives to do just that with our ITWorks program, which provides high achieving high school graduates – often from at-risk backgrounds – IT training and important real-world experience.
