CXWorks Student Spotlight: Nichelle

The first CXWorks class of 2018 kicked-off last week with a great start. Students are already immersing themselves in the world of customer service on their 8-week journey through the program. Las Vegas native, Nichelle, had been looking for a career pathway when her JAG instructor from High School sent her an email about CXWorks. The rest is history! We spoke with Nichelle about her experience and goals. Read on to learn more.

CXWorks:
Congrats on being accepted into CXWorks! You have a couple of days under your belt now, what’s the experience been like so far?

Nichelle: So far, it’s been great! Even after only a few days, the whole class has started to identify the areas that we want to improve and the skills we want to learn during our time here – both individually, and as a group. I’ve really enjoyed talking to my new classmates, and we all get along so well. I feel like I have a whole new family because we are at similar places in life and taking on this program together.

CXW: I heard that you’ve referred a few other people to the program as well. Thanks for spreading the word! What compelled you to share information about CXWorks with your friends and family?

N: My sister applied and was accepted as well – so we are on this journey together. And I referred a few friends who are going to apply in the future. The environment at CXWorks was just so welcoming and supportive from the get-go. Add in the fact that I knew I would get the skills that I need to start my career, and how could I not tell more people about it? Everyone is struggling in some way, and this program has the power to launch young people’s careers in a field where is opportunity for growth. This program is providing a future for me, and my classmates.

CXW: That is such a powerful testimony! How did you come to hear about CXWorks in the first place?

N: I have lived in Las Vegas my whole life. One year in High School, I got involved in JAG. I didn’t really choose to do it, my mom picked it, but it ended up being a good opportunity for me. I got an email from my JAG instructor out of the blue, right after we had been dealing with some family issues, about the CXWorks program – and what a miracle it was! I applied online, Bri interviewed me, and I got accepted. The whole process has just been a huge blessing. I am really excited about learning about the field because I love people and helping others, so I think it’s going to be a great fit for me.

CXW: So, you have eight weeks ahead of you before graduation. What are you looking forward to the most?

N: I’m looking forward to meeting all the volunteers at the different companies we’ll get exposure to. There’s a lot of hype around the Friday Sessions! I’m also excited to improve my typing skills, which is one area that I know I can improve in. More than anything, I am excited to see everyone’s growth through the next eight weeks. Every day that I am here, I am more motivated to wake up and be here the next day. Every day is a good day.

CXW: It sounds like you’ve had an incredibly powerful experience so far. I’m excited to catch up during Week 8 to hear about your journey. For right now, anything else you’d like to share?

N: We’re all so different – and I think that speaks to the field itself. I’m not sure what set me apart to be chosen for this spotlight because as I’m looking around, we really all deserve it! So, I hope that I can be a good representation of my entire class, our goals, and what we bring to the table. I can’t wait to see us all succeed.
