Meet Kera Dorsey, Instructor for ITWorks Las Vegas

I started with Tech Impact as their Las Vegas ITWorks instructor in January of 2016, just in time to kick off our very first class in Las Vegas. Prior to coming onboard with ITWorks, I was a systems engineer for Sungard Financial and had been working in IT for a little over a decade. I’d never taught before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I absolutely loved it! A lot of what I enjoy about my job now comes from the energy and enthusiasm my students bring to class. We just give them the tools—then, I get to watch as they evolve their IT interests, develop their career goals, and start to realize their own potential. The instructors put in a lot of prep work over the break, so I’m especially excited to roll out our updated curriculum and see how the students respond.

A fun techy fact about me would be that I got into computers from a very young age. I remember checking out a book on computer programming from the school library when I was 12 and creating a “number guessing” game. From that point on, I enjoyed using technology to entertain my family and friends, and luckily for me, that turned into a career.
